Invitation to AttendIt is my pleasure to invite you to the 2025 AMGDB Annual Meeting, a conference dedicated to academic leaders in biochemistry. We welcome conference participation by the leadership of biochemistry units within undergraduate institutions, schools of medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, and public health. The meeting will take place on January 11-18, 2025, in Ambergris Caye (San Pedro), Belize, at Ramon's Village Resort. The AMGDB annual meeting is a premier conference for Biochemistry Chairs focused on advancing cutting-edge science, education, and professional development. The 2025 meeting will include diverse speakers and discussion leaders prioritizing time for discussions. The AMGDB New Chair on-boarding session will focus on topics such as finances and budgeting, promotion and tenure, faculty development, and HR-related items (recruitment, retention, and annual reviews). The meeting agenda is under development, and the annual program includes:
If you have attended an AMGDB meeting previously, you already know the value of talking with your peers and sharing strategies for leadership. The conversations with colleagues at the beach are as important as the programming in the conference room, and you will have plenty of time in both settings. If you have never attended, you are overdue for this important networking and career development opportunity, and we are ready to welcome you. The 2025 AMGDB Meeting takes place on Ambergris Caye/San Pedro, Belize. The island's proximity to the Belize Barrier Reef - a UNESCO World Heritage site - makes it a top spot for diving, snorkeling, sailing and fishing. It's also renowned for fantastic resorts, excellent restaurants and nightlife unmatched in Belize. The AMGDB meeting program includes a group snorkeling excursion in the Hol Chan Marine Reserve, and ends with an amazing sunset farewell dinner on the beach with live entertainment. Guests may book additional spa treatments, snorkeling, scuba diving and other adventures on their own, directly through the hotel concierge. I hope you will be able to join us in January 2025 for a stimulating meeting in this relaxed setting. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can answer any questions about AMGDB or our annual meeting. I look forward to seeing you in Belize! Penelope Duerksen-Hughes, PhD |
